What’s “Global Program for Japanese Studies”? skipwise program established new subsidiary subject “Global Program for Japanese Studies” . “Global Program for Japanese Studies” is academic disciplines that consist of global oriented subjects.

Educational objectives

The objectives of “Global Program for Japanese Studies” are to develop “Knowledge Reserve + High Mobility” type of global professionals. “Knowledge Reserve” means acquisition of wealthy knowledge. Students will develop communicative competence to enhance their adaptability in global community. They will be actively involved in their own learning through “Active Learning classes”. “High Mobility” means to gain multiple times of overseas study experience. Students will acquire knowledge of global issues and gain practical experience based on the acquired knowledge.

Curricula

“Global Program for Japanese Studies” is cross-sectional academic discipline composed of general education subjects and specialist subjects. Specific subjects that are indispensable to become globally oriented people are approved as “Global Program for Japanese Studies”.

 

Four academic categories

“Global Program for Japanese Studies” is composed of the following four categories: Gateway/ English Communication/ International Study/ International Experience. Students will acquire knowledge by taking subjects from the category of “Gateway” and “English Communication”. They will have opportunities to use their accumulated knowledge through “International Study” and “International Experience”.

1. Gateway

“Gateway” is introductory course of Global Program for Japanese Studies.
“Gateway” aims to develop students’ multicultural competence and understanding about Japan.

2. English Communication

English Communication classes are focused on improving students’ communicative competence in English. The courses were specially designed for Chiba University students by British Council.

3. International Study

Students will gain practical experience and develop their accumulated knowledge about global issues through “International Study”.
